Brenken Recoveries GmbH was founded in 1987 by the partners in the law firm then called Schemmel & Partner. The name refers to Klaus Brenken, a lawyer specialising in transport and insurance law. He is not only one of our company’s Managing Directors, but also a partner in the law firm SKW Schwarz, represented around Germany at offices in Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Munich.

For more than 20 years, Brenken Recoveries GmbH has been handling transport damage claims on behalf of German and Far Eastern transport insurers. What mostly prompted the foundation of the company was the fee system in place at that time. It prohibited lawyers from operating on a no cure – no pay basis. However, the transport insurers we represent are accustomed to services on this basis, so we responded by setting up a separate company for recoveries.
